Applied Behavior Analysis – Parent-Child Interaction (ABA – PCIT) Clinic

Applied Behavior Analysis – Parent-Child Interaction (ABA – PCIT) Clinic provides assessment and treatment intervention services as well as parent consultation, training and support for children with behavioral and neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, acquired traumatic brain injury, attention deficit hyperactivity and oppositional/defiant behavior. ABA is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior and applies the understanding of how behavior functions in natural situations. PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that focuses on establishing the parent-child relationship and providing consequences for challenging behavior. Both ABA and PCIT provide the parent with tools to approach their child’s challenging behaviors with calm and consistent positive management and discipline strategies appropriate for each child.

The clinic is staffed by JMU faculty licensed as Behavior Analysts and Clinical Psychologists who work directly with children and families and also supervise graduate students working in the clinic programs. These clinic faculty include Sara Snyder, Ph.D., Licensed Behavior Analyst, Daniel Holt, Ph.D., Licensed Behavior Analyst, and Trevor Stokes, Ph.D., Licensed Behavior Analyst and Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

The clinic is located at Campbell Building Room 2244 on the JMU campus. This clinic follows JMU’s academic calendar, and primarily operates from the end of August through the beginning of May.
